Drawing on his experience as an attorney and a mechanical engineer, Jay Ashcroft has counseled clients on legal issues ranging from regulatory compliance to patent prosecution.  At the Ashcroft Law Firm, Ashcroft’s focus has been to help corporate clients implement internal controls necessary to comply with government regulation.

Before joining the Ashcroft Law Firm, Ashcroft practiced law in the Intellectual Property Group at Armstrong Teasdale, L.L.P.  While there, Ashcroft drafted patent applications and responded to United States Patent and Trademark Office actions, specializing in areas of aircraft, power generation and distribution.  Prior to entering the legal field, Ashcroft served six years as a professor of engineering at the Saint Louis Community College, where he taught courses such as thermodynamics, machine design, statics, dynamics and programmable logic controllers.  Ashcroft has also worked in the defense industry as an engineer, where he managed a team that oversaw the design, quality and manufacturing processes for the production of Air Force vehicles.  In this capacity, Ashcroft worked with Air Force personnel to develop product designs, capabilities and to perform root cause analysis for product defects.   

Ashcroft earned his Juris Doctor from Saint Louis University and is a member of the Missouri Bar.  He has also received Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in engineering management from Missouri University of Science and Technology.
