Jason Melton joined The Ashcroft Group in 2007, providing expertise in corporate finance, governance and compliance; crisis and turnaround management; and operations improvement.

Melton was formerly Chief Financial Officer of Valencia Group, a developer and operator of upscale hospitality projects across North America. In addition to leading Valencia’s finance and accounting groups, he was responsible for the commercial and legal compliance, risk management, human resource and information technology functions of the company. While at Valencia he raised a $100 million institutional equity fund, executed $95 million in senior and subordinate financing on four hotels, and negotiated and closed agreements to develop and operate properties exceeding $200 million in acquisition and development costs.

Prior to joining Valencia, Melton led the worldwide business development and merger and acquisition efforts of ASCO, an $800 million oilfield services company with 3,000 employees in six countries. While at ASCO, he secured the industry’s largest integrated logistics contract, valued at more than $250 million, and managed the company’s annual corporate business planning and budget review process.

Melton has also worked as an investment banker at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette where he advised on numerous deals in a variety of energy sectors, including oil and gas exploration and production, oilfield services, oil and gas refining, storage and delivery, and power generation and distribution.

Melton grew up in a state park in rural West Texas and attended Princeton University where he received an A.B. in Economics and was captain of the track and field team. He is an active member of Houston’s First Baptist Church and in several civic and charitable organizations. He is married and has two children.
